Case Example

Any case examples that I share here are completely anonymised. Names and some case details are altered, disguised or changed to protect my clients’ absolute right to privacy.

If you have a skin problem such as eczema, psoriasis or non-specific allergic reactions and want to actually put an end to them - this Case example may help you, but it is always advisable to seek appropriate medical assistance.

Please note that most of my case examples are individual and I imply that the methodology works for that individual. Research references are taken from the paper by Dr Anthony Bewley, Consultant Dermatologist at Barts Health NHS, who explains the complex links between eczema and psychological well-being in his article The Mind-body connection March 2020.

Margaret, a private client, had a difficult background growing up. There was constant pressure to achieve certain goals and standards both culturally and as a woman in her community. She felt constantly under pressure in her family and later at work. The demands for her time and attention left her feeling empty. Empty that is except for the anxiety that was gnawing at her.

There was no respite in her personal life. Margaret was in an arranged and loveless marriage. The stress of living with her in-laws contributed greatly to her unhappiness. The anxiety and depression heightened when she discovered her husband was having an affair. She packed her bags and left, wondering all the time how she could provide for her children.

Once she was living on her own, her skin eczema surfaced with a vicious intensity. Margaret was literally clawing at her skin. Her frustration, anxiety and her constant scratching would cause her skin to bleed. She had been to several doctors and dermatologists for her skin eczema; they prescribed various medications and diagnosed her problem as treatable (temporarily alleviated with drugs)  but ‘incurable’. It was at this point that Margaret came to see me.

Strategy

At this stage I have a free phone call with a potential client so that we can discuss strategies for healing their issues.

My magical Psychotherapist’s Toolbox is Mary Poppins-like in terms of containing many options depending on the clients’ exact needs.

Options can include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Hypnotherapy
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) also known as Brief Therapy
Relational Therapy

And of course the fact that I am qualified in a wide range of therapies to assist clients to breakthrough negative thinking patterns.

But in this instance Margaret had investigated my evidence base on my Facebook page and she was keen to know how these techniques could help her disfiguring skin condition.

Treatment

We first recognise Neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to reorganise itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. It refers to the physiological changes in the brain that happen as the result of interactions with the environment. I use a combination of modalities and methods.

I knew the methodology would work, and we would get to the root cause which would then allow Margaret to deal with whatever had been holding her back.

In just one two-hour session we got to the root cause of why her skin flared up as it did.

We revealed past childhood events and responsibilities that had always been present, which made her feel stuck.
Under hypnosis, she agreed to let go of these old limiting beliefs.
We were able to re-frame and transform these thoughts by making the familiar neural pathways unfamiliar.
I made her a personalisd hypnotic recording. Using this, new positive beliefs were being embedded in her subconscious thoughts, making the new positive beliefs (unfamiliar thought) now familiar.
It might sound complicated - but I do the complicated bit.
For the client it is a quick, easy and painless solution.

Margaret found that she was able to let go of the sadness and within just a couple of weeks, she stopped scratching her skin.

Changing her mindset, transformed her life into one that was functional, happy, and a great deal more peaceful.
